Link

A link to a route or URL, inside running text or on its own line.

28 October 2026

Added

First version: a native <a href> link on Base UI useRender.
variant (inline, standalone) and size (sm, md) for standalone links.
external: new tab, rel="noopener noreferrer", an external-link icon and the ui.link.external string.
href check: disallowed schemes are removed.
Colour transition motion.hover; the data-component and data-external attributes.

Changed

The underline is always there: a muted line that takes the text colour on hover. In the neutral appearance the link colour equals the text colour, so the underline tells the link apart.
